Universal Hobbing Machine Designed for Flexibility Liebherr Gear Technology Inc., Booth 510 Liebherr's high-performance LC 500 universal hobbing machine handles workpiece diameters ranging to 500 mm. Designed for general mechanical engineering applications, commercial vehicle gears and construction machinery, the machine is said to improve productivity and increase fexibility. The machine features a fully encapsulated workspace and spur gears as well as a one-piece machine bed. It can be equipped with either a self-cooling spur gear or watercooled direct drive in the table. Large table bores facilitate the installation of clamping cylinders for workpiece clamping devices. The machine is available with both automatic and manual operation modes, depending on the user's requirements. Confguration options include coating, automation, drives, cutting heads and additional software modules. An angular gear attachment is available for worm cutting. The InvoMilling process will be demonstrated on DMG/Mori Seiki's NT-series multitasking machines and NLX-series three-axis lathes, while DMU-series and NT machines will showcase fve-axis gear-machining capabilities. Traditional 32—GEAR Production Supplement gear-machining processes such as hobbing and broaching will also be demonstrated on the NLX three-axis lathes.
